Kim Lehnert
Dr. Lehnert specializes in DBT, a cognitive-behavioral treatment developed to treat individuals who have emotions that are triggered quickly, are intense, and take a long time to resolve. Dr Lehnert targets high-risk behaviors through a balance of acceptance (validation, mindfulness, distress tolerance) and change strategies (emotion regulation, problem solving, reducing ineffective thinking). Diagnoses and mental health conditions that respond well to DBT include: borderline personality disorder (BPD); chronic suicidal ideation; self-harm behaviors; Major Depression; Bipolar Disorder; Anxiety Disorders; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); Eating Disorders; Substance abuse/Addictions; and confusion about sexual orientation/gender identity.
