Patrick Szafran
I have expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals across the lifespan with Asperger’s, ASD, and/or co-occurring mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. Adults I assess are often seeking a diagnosis for the first time or have an existing diagnosis and are seeking an evaluation because they are struggling to meet performance demands at work or find connection and meaning in relationships. My therapeutic approach incorporates psychodynamic/relational therapy and cognitive behavioral techniques supported by research and tailored to client's unique strengths and circumstances. Recognizing that not everyone likes to talk, I utilize creative mediums including art, music, and play to help clients express their internal experiences when they are not able to do so in words. My work with individuals with ASD often involves collaboration with families and those around them to better understand their strengths and needs and identify ways to encourage greater mastery of symptoms and independence in daily living.
