David Lynch, PhD
Description
Dr. David Lynch, a certified PEERS® Provider and psychologist, specializes in the assessment and treatment of psychotic disorders. He received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, where he gained extensive experience working with individuals with psychosis in various settings including inpatient psychiatry, community mental health clinics, correctional mental health, consultation psychiatry and comprehensive psychiatric emergency services. During his graduate training, Dr. Lynch also served as a staff member at Columbia University's department of Undergraduate Student Life, providing training on mental health first aid and promoting overall wellness to student staff members.
Dr. Lynch completed his predoctoral internship at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine site at Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he offered a broad range of psychiatric services within the culturally diverse context of Queens, New York. His research interests focus on identifying the conditions necessary to promote positive outcomes in psychotherapy, particularly related to the therapeutic alliance between the client and clinician. His dissertation research specifically investigated the in-session predictors of self-harm behaviors within Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment.
Dr. Lynch is also a Marie Kessel fellow and leads several groups at the Lieber Recovery Clinic, including Men's Group, DBT, Harm Reduction, and Coping Through Music.
