With 26 years of experience as a Licensed Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, Dr. Coakley-Welch provides Neuropsychological Evaluations for children (age 6 and up), teenagers, college students, and adults in her private practice in Concord, MA. Her expertise lies in evaluating cognitive/thinking skills such as learning, memory, attention, reasoning, speed, language, spatial skills, and processing. She also specializes in assessing academic skills in reading, writing, spelling, and math, as well as behavioral, emotional, and social functioning.
Dr. Coakley-Welch's evaluations identify potential strengths and weaknesses, and determine the underlying causes of difficulties or advanced performance. These may include learning disabilities, attention disorders, executive functioning weaknesses, giftedness, social difficulties, emotional/mood symptoms, or medical conditions. With personalized recommendations for educational, clinical, and/or everyday planning, she aims to help individuals reach their full potential.
Before establishing her independent private practice in 2004, Dr. Coakley-Welch provided evaluations and clinical staff consultation at the Hallowell Center, evaluated inpatients on Clinton Hospital's Geropsychiatry Unit, and evaluated inpatients and outpatients at New England Rehabilitation Hospital. She is a member of APA, NAN, MPA, and MNS, and has held leadership positions within MNS, including serving as Past President and Chair of the Healthcare Reform Committee.
Dr. Coakley-Welch is a graduate of Smith College and earned an M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of New Hampshire. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno campus, and her Clinical Psychology Internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center/Worcester State Hospital. She also completed her Neuropsychology Post-doctoral Fellowship at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital.
