Maya Matheis
Description
My passion lies in supporting individuals with neurodiverse backgrounds at every stage of their lives. I specialize in offering assistance to children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, providing assessment and diagnosis services for conditions such as developmental delays, intellectual disability, ADHD, and more. Through my therapeutic services, I provide parent training with PCIT, Parent ImPACT, and individual therapy to improve emotional well-being, independence, and relationship building.
My clinical approach is built on three foundational pillars: alliance, respect, and empathy. I strive to create a strong partnership with my clients and their families by actively fostering a supportive alliance. I treat everyone with the utmost dignity and respect, valuing and affirming all identities. I also believe that individuals with neurodevelopmental differences have unique needs that should be respected.
I am dedicated to delivering compassionate, holistic, and evidence-based care. As a researcher at the University of Hawaii's Center on Disability Studies, I remain current on the latest research findings and use them to enhance my practice.
