Toni Thomas

As a counselor with 18 years of experience, I take pride in helping both children and adults find more joy in life through assessment and counseling services. My focus is on creating a safe and engaging space for school-age children, using exciting activities to help them find solutions to their problems and learn through play. I believe in an interactive, warm, and accepting approach, attending to the needs of my clients to help them experience the quickest relief possible.

My greatest joy comes from helping my clients feel better about themselves. While I have worked with diverse populations of all ages, I am especially passionate about working with elementary school students. I employ a variety of methods to facilitate growth, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, art therapy techniques, and blending person-centered and reality theory with traditional psychotherapy. I believe that discipline equals freedom, and I give immediate feedback, tasks to focus on between sessions, and tools to learn coping skills from the very first session.
